Date: 2015-10-28 08:11 pm (UTC)Assuming Flint was chosen and no one volunteered for him, so he went into the arena… By the Third Quarter Quell, Flint's about, what, 60 (math is hard)? My first thought is what he would think, and how that would change his actions from Brutus's.
Partly, it goes back to his thought about Haymitch. He has a deep respect for Haymitch, because he managed to do something no one else had ever done – he didn’t just beat the games, he beat the Gamemakers. That took a lot of brains and balls. But that also put Haymitch on the Capitol’s shit-list, so while Flint respects him, he treats him like a bit of a pariah. Katniss is Haymitch all over again. He’d respect her for her outstanding performance as a tribute, and for managing to beat the Gamemakers, but he doesn’t want to end up on the shit-list by proxy.
By his 60’s, Flint will still be a 2 patriot, but he won’t have a lot of pro-Capitol feelings left. Finding out about things like victor prostitution will have soured him completely. BUT! That doesn’t mean he’ll be in there with Lyme, all revolutioning and such. The Capitol is still the baddest dog in the fight. He’ll want to stay out of all that , because he doesn’t want to become another Haymitch/Katniss. He has family and friends, and he doesn’t want to draw the Capitol’s ire and cause them to suffer on his account. It he had no roots, it’d be different, but he does.
Long story short, he’d go into the arena without even attempting an alliance with Katniss &co. He’ll hold hands on stage and get all touchy feely OR WHATEVER, but in the arena? He’d be forcused on actually surviving. No hard feelings, fellow 3rd Quarter Quellers, but he wants to live. Best of luck with that revolution tho.

Date: 2015-10-30 07:58 pm (UTC)First off, I think Alice would be surprised and go “=O” up there on the stool when the hat makes its announcement. On the other hand, Alice is a bit of an optimist, and she wants to see the best in people. She’s the type to grow where she’s planted, and I think the fact that she became an Auror shows that she isn’t without ambition and cunning.
So, Alice would make friends in Slytherin, and sort of grow into her house. You’d end up with a more assertive Alice – an Alice who is still very prone to caring, but less inclined to coddling.
One thing I don’t think would change is that Alice is good by nature. She’d avoid those Slytherins, like Mulciber, who are cruel – she’d be at odds with them, in fact, telling them that they make their house look bad!
This more assertive, confrontational Alice still ends up in law enforcement – in fact, she never even considers being a healer, like Gryffindor Alice did. There’s a lot of Evil, and Slytherin!Alice is going to handle it.
BUT WHAT ABOUT FRANK? AND NEVILLE?
Alice and Frank knew each other before school, but they really became close friends in school. Not in the same house? DOESN’T HAPPEN. Alice spends her early school years crushing on a certain handsome blonde Slytherin fellow.
She got over that, though, because that guy was snooty. What an ass.
Instead, she ends up falling for one of her instructors during Auror training – Cash Proudfoot.
